Gealliadh is a secondborn Sylvari, awakened during the Cycle of Dusk. He is a fully qualified physician, pathologist and epidemiologist who began his medical career as a mender in the Grove. He now works as the head clinician in Hope's Rest. 

Biography

Early Life

In the first weeks of his awakening in 1304, Gealliadh became fascinated with the effects of the Dream on the Sylvari psyche, and started to study and aid newly awakened Sylvari who were mentally marred by the Dream. His approach to mending has often been compared to that of human mental health psychotherapy, focusing on adapting ways of thinking and behaviors.

Early Medical Career and Studies

In 1305, Gealliadh enrolled into the Durmond Priory to expand on his rudimentary understanding of medical treatment in Tyria. His attention was quickly brought to Zhaitan's risen and he focused on finding treatment for inhabitants of Tyria who had been corrupted by the elder dragon's magic. Realising that there were no cures, he shifted his focus to end-of-life care, devising several methods that are still in use to this day. 

Gealliadh's intense focus on the undead revealed a world of disease largely untapped by existing medical science, thus he began to uncover the true nature of health, life, and death in Tyria. His experience with the risen paved the way to his multiple discoveries and developments of medical treatments that slowly trickled into every-day use across Tyria's healthcare epicentres. Gealliadh used his expertise to support every aspect of healthcare, from guiding doctors on the right way to treat common disease, to using cutting edge technologies to treat patients with life-threatening conditions.

Unsatisfied with his lot, however, Gealliadh took it upon himself to observe the nature of pathology itself and study how often disease occured in different groups of people and why. He used his findings in epidemiology to plan and evaluate methods of preventing illness and and the effective management of patients in whom disease has already developed. 

In mid-1316, Gealliadh passed his degree in medicine became a bonafide doctor. He opened his first medical clinic that same year in Garenhoff.

During the events of Mordremoth's assault on Pact fleets in the Heart of Maguuma and Silverwastes, Gealliadh travelled to the region to offer medical support in the field. Although many Pact members were suspicious of Gealliadh on the grounds of him being a Sylvari, he worked tirelessly to heal those injured by the forces of Mordremoth. During this time, Gealliadh succumbed to the voice of the jungle dragon, and became mordrem. Fortunately he was captured by the Pact, and miraculously treated back to his normal self after years of combined efforts from Priory and Pact officials. Despite this, Gealliadh retained a great deal of what made him mordrem, although hidden beneath the surface and only triggered by intense temper. His demeanor never returned to what it was during his early life. 

Current Life and Relationships

Gealliadh became a member of the Wandering Alliance of Tyria in 1335 and took over the work of existing lead clinicians to overhaul and enhance the clinical facilities within Hope's Rest. While not officially designated a lead clinician, many colleagues regard him as the head of the medical division within the guild, under which all research and treatment is conducted by other clinicians. 

During his tenure within the guild, Gealliadh formed many bonds, including that with Marjolei, a fellow Sylvari and medic, whom he trained and mentored to becoming a qualified doctor. Marjolei and Gealliadh have a tight bond often only possible between Sylvari, and are commonly found working and relaxing together in the clinic's many lounge spaces.

Despite his efforts to avoid his old life as a mordrem were unsuccessful on a mission within the guild, during which he discovered a mordrem pod that spoke echoes of Mordremoth's guidance. He once more succumbed to mordrem, and was kidnapped by Heikoha, a Sylvari who considered himself the 'champion of Mordremoth.' His rescue was performed by a number of guild members, including Orion Sciolto, with whom he is now in a committed relationship.

Currently, Gealliadh is studying the nuances of fleshweaving, a once-nefarious necromantic practice used by 'the Carver' and Lokii to brainwash and mutate innocent victims into becoming pawns of evil. He has been guiding his studies toward good, adapting techniques to be used without causing harm. He is also adapting to the human style of life, having moved in with Orion and his wife and child.
